Haviland Drops Chuluota, 5-3

Though he had a stellar game, John Love could not prevent his team, the Chuluota Imperials, from losing, 5-3, to the Haviland Thrashers. Love was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Sean Torkelson earned the win. Greg Brand took the loss for Chuluota. The second-place Thrashers improved to 35-24.
Haviland used a clutch at-bat from Bill Demers to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Thrashers ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Victor Gonzalez.
