The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes downed the Riverside Wolverines, 10-3, at Wolverines Ballpark. The Earthquakes were led by Tony Cruz. Cruz slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Arturo Alvarado got the win, improving to 7-0. He held the Wolverines to no runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 0.

Ft. Wayne used a clutch at-bat from Jim Henkemeyer to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Earthquakes ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Henkemeyer told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."

The first-place Earthquakes have won 5 straight.
