Conditions were not ideal but Jacksonville and Riverside were able to put their game in the books.

The Jacksonville Nationals besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Riverside center fielder Victor Pena by beating the Wolverines, 7-5, at Wolverines Ballpark. Pena was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Edward Southey got the win, improving to 3-0. He held the Wolverines to 2 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1.

Gabe Ippolito helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a 2-1 fastball from Miguel Crespo for a run-scoring double, to give Jacksonville a 1-0 lead.

"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Ippolito.

The first-place Nationals now sit at 42-11.
