The inspired effort of Riverside first baseman Ernie Humphrey was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-4, to the Crystal Lake Killers. Humphrey went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. The second-place Killers have a record of 28-21.

The Killers got an important contribution from center fielder Jon Blanco, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a 1-1 sinker to right-center for a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Killers ahead, 5-1.

"I like our moxie," said Killers manager Steve Warzecha.
