Hutchison, Wolverines Beat Killers, 8-5
|
The Riverside Wolverines beat the Crystal Lake Killers by a score of 8-5. Riverside right fielder Don Hutchison deserved the lion's share of the credit. Hutchison went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice for the Wolverines. Riverside reliever Melvin Flores snagged the win, upping his record to 1-2. Willie Garcia shouldered the loss. Riverside is in third place in the Southern Conference West Division with a record of 18-23.
This game was not decided until late. With no one out in the top of the ninth, John Pavao got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run. The Wolverines took the lead, 4-3.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Pavao, "one at-bat at a time."
