Thrashers Deal Panthers 3-1 Defeat
|
The Haviland Thrashers defeated the Buckeye Local Panthers, 3-1, at Cincinnati Grounds. Haviland first baseman Chris Stivers had a superb performance. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Max Mascareno, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 14th save. Haviland is now 31-8.
Stivers contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Haviland in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Stivers took a slider from Mike Corrales and stroked the home run to left-center. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Thrashers to leap in front, 2-1.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Stivers.
