Wolverines Deal Jacksonville 3-1 Defeat

Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Riverside Wolverines and Jacksonville Nationals.
In a low-scoring contest between the Riverside Wolverines and the Jacksonville Nationals, Javier Torres, who is tied for 10th in the SC in wins with 3, proved to be the difference. The Riverside left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Wolverines win. Torres, now 3-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Leonardo Vazquez earned the save, his 8th.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Wolverines had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when center fielder Ismael Martinez hit a 2-run single. The single came off Jim Unknown and made the score 2-1, Wolverines. Martinez was 1 for 3, while adding 2 RBI.
"I was able to fill up the zone," said Torres.
Jacksonville has now lost 4 consecutive games.
