The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes could not turn a fine performance from shortstop Bill Chavarria into a win. Instead, the Crystal Lake Killers prevailed, 8-7. Chavarria went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Crystal Lake leads the Southern Conference West Division by 2½ games.

Crystal Lake won the game in part because of Justin Wish. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Killers ahead, 8-7. For the game, Wish had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Wish told the Crystal Lake Daily News.
