Riverside Gets 7-4 Win
|
The 7-4 Riverside win over Sunrise Manor was due in large part to Joe Tibbs. The Wolverines center fielder went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Eric Zane earned the win for Riverside. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 3-0. Bernie Rodriguez earned save number 3 this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Riverside, had it not been for John Richins, the 20-year old second baseman . Richins contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Riverside up, 2-0.
"Young guys to old guys," said Richins, "we're all going out there and doing what it takes to win."
The Wolverines, at 23-8, have now won 8 straight.
