Panthers Lose as Wolverines Stage Late Rally
|
The Riverside Wolverines besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Buckeye Local center fielder Danny Thompson by beating the Panthers, 6-3, at Wolverines Ballpark. Thompson was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Riverside reliever Melvin Flores got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Brandon Fromel was tagged with the loss. Antonino Sauli nailed down his 4th save.
Jim Mann hit a 2-run home run off Brandon Fromel in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Wolverines ahead, 4-3. In addition to the homer, Mann had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Mann.
Buckeye Local, at 8-19, is off to a poor start in 2022.
