Earthquakes Squelch Flight Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes and the San Bernardino Flight, 19-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Kern proved to be the difference. The Ft. Wayne right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Earthquakes win. Kern, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. Ft. Wayne is rolling at 16-3.
Justin Dawson, who is tied for 2nd in the SC in extra base hits with 14, chipped in a 2-run home run for Ft. Wayne in the bottom of the first. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said San Bernardino manager Ramiro Mendiola.
