The inspired effort of San Bernardino right fielder Steve Blum was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes. Blum was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Marcos Patino was credited with the save for Ft. Wayne, his 9th of the season. With their 16th win of the season, the Earthquakes have high hopes for earning their 9th World Series trophy.

Contributing to the Ft. Wayne cause was Erik Bailey. In the bottom of the fourth, the 20-year old third baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 4-2, the Earthquakes in front.

When asked about his performance after the game, Bailey said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
