Thrashers Nipped by Flight, 2-1

The Haviland Thrashers got a superb performance from pitcher Brad Porretta. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Bernardino. The Flight won the game, 2-1. Porretta threw 8.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Marco Zandbergen got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 6 innings. Alex Avila was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
The Flight got a big at-bat from shortstop Steve Combee. For the game, Combee belted 2 home runs. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave San Bernardino a 2-1 lead.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Combee.
Haviland, with the loss, is still a stout 13-3.
