Panthers Nipped by Earthquakes, 2-1

The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes eked out a 2-1 win versus the Buckeye Local Panthers at Earthquakes Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Hugo Reyes. He was terrific. Reyes yielded no runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. The Earthquakes, now 11-3, have been playing some good baseball.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Earthquakes had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman Jose Saenz hit a 2-run single. The single came off Roberto Melendez and made the score 2-0, Earthquakes. Saenz was 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Ft. Wayne manager Du-sung Moon.
