The Crystal Lake Killers could not turn a fine performance from left fielder Justin Wish into a win. Instead, the Haviland Thrashers prevailed, 10-9. Wish hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Thrashers, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.

Haviland used a clutch at-bat from Steve Francis to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Thrashers ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Francis, "this wasn't it."
