Riding the 3-hit performance of the 20-year old first baseman Michel DeRise, the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes stopped the San Bernardino Flight, 9-2, in 9 innings. Cody Fields earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. With the win, Ft. Wayne lifts its record to 3-1.

With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the fifth, DeRise had a key at-bat for Ft. Wayne. With the bases loaded, DeRise hit a 2-run single off Oliver Murga, making the score 4-2, Earthquakes.

"I thought we played a nice game," DeRise told the Ft. Wayne Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
