Waterman Leads Earthquakes to Win
|
The Haviland Thrashers opened their 2021 season with a disappointing 6-1 loss to the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes at Ballpark of Haviland. First Baseman Jeff Waterman was a big part of the win for Ft. Wayne. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Jerome Abney, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Thrashers to no runs on 2 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1.
Early in the game, Waterman had a run-scoring double for Ft. Wayne. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Earthquakes on top, 1-0.
Waterman called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
