Fremont Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
|
The Fremont Marshalls combined strong pitching and timely hitting to take Game 1 of the Division Series, 2-1, in a walk-off win over the Montreal Royals.
The Marshalls got a solid performance from starter Tarjei Wiese. The right-handed Wiese threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, which gave the Marshalls a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
Fremont got a game-changing hit from Kyle Stansberry. The pinch hitter blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a winner.
Wiese called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hedgehogs Park in Fremont.
