Tigers Prevail, as Division Series Goes to the Wire
|
The joy and relief on the faces of the London Tigers players was obvious as they celebrated their Division Series win over the Augusta Capitols.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said London third baseman Kevin Hilfiker, shortly after the 2-0 win that clinched the series 4-3. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the League Championship Series.
Hilfiker won series MVP honors on the strength of his .241 batting average during the series. He also had a .241 on-base percentage and 3 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 6 runs.
The London Tigers will play against the Hamilton Bulldogs in the next round. Hamilton won their series against the Vail Tigercats 4 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
