Panthers Rally For Late Win Over Fighting Knights
|
The Wichita Panthers spoiled a good performance by Niskayuna left fielder Jonathan Swander, bumping off Niskayuna, 5-3, at Fighting Knights Field. Swander was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Edwin Lozano snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 4-3 on the season. Picking up the save was Danny Espinoza, his 19th.
Wichita used a clutch hit from Mikkel Goldbaek to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Panthers ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Goldbaek. "And not try to do too much."
The Panthers improved their record to 76-64 with the win over Niskayuna.
