Wranglers Claim 7-3 Win
|
The Newport News Wranglers used the hitting of catcher Mauricio Guerra to subdue the South Pasadena Air Riders, 7-3. For the game, Guerra was 4-5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Bohdan Kasatkin got the win, improving to 3-3. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The save was credited to Jean Lebreton, his 2nd.
With one out in the top of the third, Diego Mejia put Newport News in front, 4-3, with a run-scoring single. The Wranglers went on to win the ballgame.
In comments to the Newport News Times, Mejia admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
The Wranglers improved to 64-54.
