The Santa Barbara Super Troopers got a superb performance from first baseman Reed Gomez, but the Wichita Panthers still won the game, 9-3. Gomez went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. Juan Soriano, who is tied for 2nd in the SL2 with a 7.8 K/9 rate, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 8-4. The Panthers, at 73-62, sit in second place in the Sub League 2 Central Division.

The Panthers benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the second. With Rey Gonzalez at bat and Wichita leading 1-0, the Santa Barbara miscue allowed Wichita to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Gonzalez said.
