Newport News Slaps 9-3 Loss on Carson City
The timely hitting of Nick Springer helped the Newport News Wranglers down the Carson City Miners, 9-3. Springer was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Wranglers. Steve Gallagher was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 3 save opportunities. The Wranglers now have a record of 67-68 with the win over Carson City.

With Newport News leading 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Springer hit a run-scoring single off Carson City hurler Trent Johnson. It was the 46th hit of the season for Springer and put his team ahead, 5-3.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Springer.
