Wranglers Drop Green Knights, 6-4, with Late Score
|
The Newport News Wranglers bested the Spring Park Green Knights by a score of 6-4, with left fielder Fernando Zavala getting the main credit. On the day, Zavala went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Wranglers. Robby Boock sewed up the save, his 8th. Newport News now sits at 81-55, while Spring Park falls to 52-84.
Tyler Orr drew 2 walks in 5 plate appearances for Newport News. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jim Unknown. It was his 7th walk of the season.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Noah Lute.
