Fighting Knights Get Clutch Win Versus Savannah
|
The Niskayuna Fighting Knights and Savannah Alpines obliged fans looking for a good time.
The Niskayuna Fighting Knights beat the Savannah Alpines, 7-6, at Fighting Knights Field. Tommie Tepper, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The win belonged to Juan Esquibel in relief. His record improves to 3-7. Jim Hart took the loss for Savannah.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Niskayuna trailing 6-5, Tepper jumped on a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Hart and hit a 2-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Fighting Knights had a walk-off win.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Niskayuna manager Jonathan Anderson.
The Fighting Knights improved their record to 66-71 with the win over Savannah.
