Alpines Come Up Short at Niskayuna, 3-2
|
The Niskayuna Fighting Knights picked up a win at Fighting Knights Field, courtesy of Joe Giunta. The left-hander helped his team stop the Savannah Alpines, 3-2. The winner was Giunta. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Justin Spain. Luis de la Piedra, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Tommie Tepper hit a 2-run double off Justin Spain in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Fighting Knights in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Tepper had 1 single, while going 2 for 3.
"Joe was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Niskayuna manager Jonathan Anderson.
At 65-71, the Fighting Knights claim 5th place in the Sub League 2 East Division.
