The inspired effort of Savannah designated hitter Bruce Elrod was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Wichita Panthers. Elrod was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. The winning pitcher was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Soto. He tossed 65 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits.
