The Newport News Wranglers soundly defeated the Sikeston Shamrocks, 13-3, at Shamrocks Park, with shortstop Brian Beason a major reason why. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Newport News. Robert Esparza earned save number 2. Newport News is now 66-68, while Sikeston is 75-59.

Nick Springer had a big 2-run double for the Wranglers in the top of the first inning. With Newport News leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Israel Parez and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wranglers ahead, 3-0.

Newport News manager Chris Rice commended his team for "putting the hammer down."
