Amparan, Shamrocks Too Much for Wranglers
The Sikeston Shamrocks saddled the Newport News Wranglers with a loss at Shamrocks Park. The final score was 10-4. Steve Amparan was 4 for 4, including 3 singles and 1 home run. The Sikeston right fielder scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Shamrocks now own a record of 75-57.

The Shamrocks got a big hit from pinch hitter Bill Cortez. In the bottom of the sixth, Cortez smacked a 3-run home run off Newport News pitcher Alex Gonzales. It was his 2nd home run of the season. Suddenly, the Shamrocks were ahead, 5-3.

"It never gets old," said Cortez. "Winning, that is."
