Cyclones Deal Sikeston 7-4 Defeat
|
The Mt. Vernon Cyclones topped the Sikeston Shamrocks, 7-4, with youngster Omar Gatica playing a key role. Gatica was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Cyclones in the win. After today's action, Mt. Vernon sits at 59-49; Sikeston slips to 76-32.
Brad Reynolds had a big 3-run home run for the Cyclones in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Mt. Vernon leading 4-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a slider from Keith Carter, who is tied for 5th in the SL2 in strikeouts with 100, and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Cyclones on top, 7-2.
"Solid performance from our side," said Cyclones manager Dan McClure.
