Wranglers Flatten Cyclones, 10-4
Newport News took on Mt. Vernon in front of a lively crowd.

The Newport News Wranglers licked the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 10-4. Davey Stoltzfoos deserved a big chunk of the credit. The second baseman went 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Wranglers. The winning pitcher was Yekuno-Amlak Lusalah. He's now 1-1. He went 6 innings, allowing no runs on 6 hits for the Wranglers.

With Newport News leading 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Stoltzfoos came up to bat against Mt. Vernon pitcher Jeremy Stewart. Stoltzfoos hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season put the Wranglers on top, 10-0.

"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Stoltzfoos.

Newport News has now won 3 straight, while the Cyclones have lost 3 in a row.
