Fighting Knights Win, 9-6, Versus Missions
|
The Niskayuna Fighting Knights knocked off the Montgomery Missions, 9-6, at Fighting Knights Field. Heriberto Paula was a big reason Niskayuna won. The center fielder went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Joe Giunta was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Art Cohen collected his 16th save.
Niskayuna grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Paula hit a 3-run home run off Jose Escobedo. His 7th home run of the season put the Fighting Knights out in front, 7-4.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Paula.
The win makes Niskayuna 67-62.
