Missions Stymie Spring Park, Take 4-1 Win
|
The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Montgomery Missions.
Montgomery pitcher Willie Gonzales had a large part in his team beating the Spring Park Green Knights, 4-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win puts Montgomery at 80-50 this season.
In the bottom of the fifth, J.R. Chambers delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Montgomery catcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Missions in front, 4-1.
Montgomery manager Hoa Nguyen-Dinh commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
