Alpines 3-1 Winners Versus Wichita
|
The Savannah Alpines had to overcome a big game from Wichita first baseman Bobby Sidener to leave Alpines Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 3-1. Sidener was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. Jim Hart finished the game for Savannah and earned his 9th save. The Alpines saw their record improve to 53-74.
Savannah took a 1-0 lead on Mickey Michael's 23rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Michael hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Wichita pitcher Jim Unknown visibly frustrated.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Savannah manager Ryan Allen.
