Mt. Vernon had no answer for Sikeston Shamrocks starter Israel Parez, who flummoxed Cyclones hitters as the Shamrocks cruised to victory, 9-1. With the win, Sikeston pushed its record to 72-52.

Ryan Laycock had a big hit for Sikeston in the bottom of the first inning. With Sikeston leading 1-0, Laycock hit a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Shamrocks up, 3-0.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Tom Whiting.
