Newport News first baseman Chris Hartfield had a good game, even if his team did not. The Wranglers dropped a 6-5 decision to Savannah at Wranglers Stadium. Hartfield was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Zack Vandermark earned his 5th save in 6 chances. Savannah is now 52-47.

Savannah used a clutch at-bat from Russell D'Alessandro to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Alpines ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," D'Alessandro told the Savannah Observer.
