Missions Lose By a Run at Mt. Vernon
|
With shortstop Matthew Bridges leading the charge, the Mt. Vernon Cyclones defeated the Montgomery Missions, 7-6, at Mt. Vernon Grounds. Bridges, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2024 draft, was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever Cory Hobbs picked up the win. His record improves to 2-3. Alex Balladares took the loss. Mike Garst notched his 8th save in 8 chances.
Mt. Vernon went up, 6-4, on Leo Carballo's 2nd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Carballo hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Montgomery pitcher Josh Howard shaking his head.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Carballo.
By defeating Montgomery, the second-place Cyclones improved to 54-46.
