Shamrocks Squelch Alpines Offense in Shutout Win
|
Sikeston used a superb performance from starting pitcher Mickey Green to down the Savannah Alpines, 5-0. In 5.1 innings, Green surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Steve Ray closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Allen Douglass, the Sikeston first baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 2-0, Shamrocks. For the game, Douglass went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Douglass.
At 69-29, the Shamrocks claim first place in the Sub League 2 Central Division.
