Wranglers Handle Wichita, Snag 5-3 Win
The Newport News Wranglers spoiled a good performance by Wichita designated hitter Kyle Marin, bumping off Wichita, 5-3, at Panthers Park. Marin went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Roger Mims finished the game for Newport News and earned his 4th save. With the win over Wichita, the Wranglers improved to 56-63.

The Wranglers got a big at-bat from shortstop Brian Beason. For the game, Beason was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Newport News a 2-0 lead.

Beason attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
