Wranglers Fall Short, 6-5, at Wichita
The Wichita Panthers and Newport News Wranglers obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Wichita Panthers beat the Newport News Wranglers, 6-5, in part because of designated hitter Mike Hedger. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Brian Wilson snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 3 innings. He's now 10-2 on the season.

The Panthers got a big at-bat from catcher Rafael Rosas. For the game, Rosas went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Wichita a 5-3 lead.

"We found a way to get it done," Rosas said.

The victory gives Wichita a record of 61-57.
