Super Troopers Capture Close Win
Santa Barbara first baseman Reed Gomez was instrumental in helping the Super Troopers triumph, 4-3, over the Mt. Vernon Cyclones. Gomez went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. Reliever Isaiah Timmons picked up the win. His record improves to 4-2. Dara Qutaiba, who is tied for 2nd in the SL2 in holds with 9, took the loss. Santa Barbara is now 75-43, 12½ games up in the Sub League 2 Central Division.

Santa Barbara used the timely hitting of Tara Nishida to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Super Troopers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Mt. Vernon manager Tom Whiting said, following the tough loss.
