Due in large part to catcher Vic Colan, the Newport News Wranglers sunk the Montgomery Missions, 8-6. Colan went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. With the win over Montgomery, the Wranglers improved to 69-47.

The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Colan hit a 2-run double off Roberto Lopez. It propelled the Wranglers into the lead, 4-2.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Colan told the Newport News News. "It's as simple as that."
