Rios goes 3-for-4 to Pull Alpines to .500
|
The Savannah Alpines beat the Niskayuna Fighting Knights, 6-3, with major props going to shortstop Manny Rios. On the day, Rios went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Alpines. Picking up his 3rd save was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Zack Vandermark. The first-place Alpines have won 5 consecutive games.
Savannah went up, 3-1, on Russell D'Alessandro's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which D'Alessandro hit in the top of the seventh, left Niskayuna pitcher Bernie Suarez shaking his head.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," D'Alessandro told the Savannah Observer. "Whatever it takes."
