Alpines Snag 10-7 Win
|
The Savannah Alpines knocked off the Niskayuna Fighting Knights, 10-7, at Fighting Knights Field. Jim Young was a big reason Savannah won. The shortstop went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Savannah reliever Chris Erickson picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Carlos del Valle was saddled with the loss. Savannah is now 44-46, 3½ games up in the Sub League 2 West Division.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Young delivered big-time for Savannah, stroking a dramatic run-scoring double off Carlos del Valle. The game-changing hit put the Alpines on top, 8-7.
Alpines manager Ryan Allen wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
