Shamrocks Take Down Missions, 13-8
The Sikeston Shamrocks overcame a good performance by Montgomery right fielder Don Hutchison to knock off Montgomery, 13-8, in 10 innings at Missions Grove. Hutchison went 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The Shamrocks improved to a lofty 66-25.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Steve Banks came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Montgomery pitcher Sherman Ayala, he hit a 2-2 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Sikeston on top, 9-8.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Banks. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
