In a low-scoring game between the Wichita Panthers and the Newport News Wranglers, pitcher Noah Damm was the difference-maker. The Wichita right-hander was tough as nails in the 3-2 Panthers win. Damm, now 11-5, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Danny Espinoza earned the save for Wichita, his 16th of the year.

Jim Cook, who is tied for 5th in the SL2 with a .370 batting average, had a direct impact on the outcome. Cook contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put Wichita up, 2-1.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Damm told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."

The Panthers now have a record of 58-50 with the win over Newport News.
