Air Riders Lose By a Run at Newport News
The Newport News Wranglers turned back the South Pasadena Air Riders, 7-6, at Wranglers Stadium. Brian Collins, in particular, had a fine performance. He drew 3 walks, while scoring 2. Newport News reliever Jonathan Aubry picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Cortez Oyola was saddled with the loss. Steve Gallagher was credited with the save for Newport News, his 5th of the season.

Newport News took a 7-5 lead on Vinny Murillo's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Murillo hit in the bottom of the seventh, left South Pasadena pitcher Cortez Oyola visibly frustrated.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Collins said after the game.

With the win, Newport News raised its record to 45-39.
