Alpines Deal Shamrocks 7-1 Setback
The Sikeston Shamrocks had to reckon with Savannah Alpines hurler Jose Rodriguez. Rodriguez overwhelmed the opposition in the 7-1 Alpines triumph. The winning pitcher was Rodriguez, now 4-8. He tossed 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Savannah, at 45-65, holds down last place in the Sub League 2 East Division.

Savannah used a well-timed hit by Russell D'Alessandro to capture the win. The second baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Alpines ahead, 5-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," D'Alessandro told the Savannah Observer.
