Panthers Win, 7-6, Versus Mt. Vernon
The Wichita Panthers beat the Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 7-6, at Panthers Park. The win was due in part to third baseman Rodrigo Velez, who went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. The winner was Alex Arredondo in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Dara Qutaiba took the loss. The save went to Zack Scott, his 7th this season.

The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Velez delivered big-time for Wichita, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Mike Driskell. The game-changing hit put the Panthers on top, 7-6.

Velez told the Wichita Bulletin: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."

With the victory, the Panthers upped their record to 56-52.
