Mt. Vernon Earns 3-2 Win
The Mt. Vernon Cyclones topped the Sikeston Shamrocks, 3-2, in Sub League 2 action at Mt. Vernon Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Mt. Vernon pitcher and Arlington, Virginia, native Ian Martin. Mt. Vernon reliever Jose Melendez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Alexis Jaimes took the loss. Picking up the save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Dara Qutaiba.

Mt. Vernon took the lead, 3-2, on Carlos Castro's 7th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Sikeston pitcher Alexis Jaimes in the bottom of the eighth.

"Ian is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Mt. Vernon manager Tom Whiting.

With this game in the books, Mt. Vernon is 59-50, Sikeston 49-60.
