The Carson City Miners beat the Newport News Wranglers at Miners Ballpark. The final score was 6-5, in favor of Carson City. Jerry Konas led the way, going 2-for-3 for the home team. The win was credited to Victor Montoya in relief. His record improves to 1-4. Roger Mims took the loss. Edgardo Saenz recorded the save, making him 13 for 15.

Had Adam Jordan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Jordan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Miners.

Konas told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."

The Miners now have a record of 50-54 with the win over Newport News.
