Jay Lewis did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Mt. Vernon Cyclones from being beaten, 8-6, to the Niskayuna Fighting Knights at Mt. Vernon Grounds. Lewis slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Niskayuna reliever Ricky Flores was the winner. His record is now 4-3. Ian Martin took the loss. The setback makes Mt. Vernon 56-48.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Heriberto Paula? The Niskayuna left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Fighting Knights on top, 3-2. For the game, Paula had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Paula, "but we got it done."
